Baotu Spring is located in the urban area of Jinan City, Shandong Province, named as Baotu because the spring water pours and jumps as Bao Tu, meaning jumping, bouncing in English. It is ranked as the best Spring among the 72 springs of Jinan. The spring water is mainly ponded in a rectangle spring pool which is about 30 meters long in the direction of east to west and 20 meters wide in the direction of north to south. There are three large mouths of spring in the pool, gushing endlessly day and night, with a momentum as seething caldron and an appearance as heaps of snow.
The Baotu Spring water is clean and sweet. When the spring water meet tea leaves, the tea liquor will smell scented and taste mellow.
Zeng Gong(1019-1083), a scholar in the Song Dynasty(960-1279), selected Baotu Spring water to brew the tea, and praised that as the best choice. Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) always chose Baotu Spring water for tea when worked with the officials every time he came to Shandong.
