Phoenix Oolong Tea

Phoenix oolong, also known as Fenghuang Dancong, has been a long reputed tea in China. It is one of most famous Guangdong oolongs which comes from the Phoenix Mountain of Chao-an County at Chao-zhou City, Guangdong Province, China. It got the name of phoenix due to its birth place.

Legend goes that during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127–1279), an emperor was served with the phoenix tea when he passed by the Phoenix Mountain. The emperor was quite satisfied with the tea and since then, it was widely planted. Since Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), it became a tribute tea to be presented to emperors.

The leaves of the tea are thick and straight with brown in color. It has a strong fruity flavor like dried mango with flowery note. The brewed tea has very bright, lustrous and clear liquor with yellowish orange in color. The tea can be infused 6-7 times.

There are many health benefits to drinking Phoenix oolong tea, including weight loss, teeth strengthening, combating the aging of skin, etc.

    This is not a tea you want to add milk to, milk would mask the multitude of enticing natural layers of flavor this tea holds.

    Adding milk and sugar negates the benefits of drinking Oolong tea if you have weight issues and that’s apart from spoiling the wonderful taste. It doesn’t take long to acquire the taste without adding fat and calories.
